Ardbeg Day 2025

It's that time of year again, folks! Feis Ile (the Islay Festival) is hurtling at light speed towards us and plans are afoot for another unmissable week. For over 20 years we've thrown open the doors to the Distillery on the last day of the festival, then in 2012 we invited Ardbeggians globally to join in the celebrations wherever they were, and Ardbeg Day was bron.

So this year, on Saturday 31st May, we bid fans on Islay and beyond to come together for Ardbeg Day 2025 - the biggest day in whisky lovers' calendars. Be prepared to don your moon boots and space suits as we enter The Smokiverse...

The first whisky we have ever made with a high-gravity mash...

"Ardbeg Smokiverse takes our single malt's classic peaty character to a new frontier of flavour. Upon first sip, you can expect a vibrant burst of fruity, ester notes, rather like smoked bubblegum, along with aromas of barley. The peaty notes collide with juicy, tropical fruits, before sinking into a rich depth of muscovado sugar."

Ardbeg The Rollercoaster

Ardbeg Smokiverse

As we celebrate 25 years of the Ardbeg Committee in 2025, we venture further into space once more… Behold the immense magnetism of Ardbeg’s mash tun. Responsible for converting our malted barley into fermentable sugars (mashing), all life at Ardbeg revolves around the tun. This time, however, it has become a force to be reckoned with, as we concentrate its power to materialise a new frontier of flavour for Ardbeg.

INTENSITY OF DENSITY

Introducing this year’s exclusive – Ardbeg Smokiverse. Crafted with High Gravity Mashing (a genuine distilling term!), this experimental malt takes us on a voyage into new, undiscovered realms of flavour. By experimenting with High Gravity Mashing, we’ve dialled down the water, cranked up the grist, and packed more grain into the mix than ever before. This process ramps up the sugar in the wort, resulting in a higher gravity measurement than our standard mash. It’s this heightened gravity that has helped unlock this fruitier, more intense Ardbeg.

TUNS OF FLAVOUR

Taste the emergence of an awe inspiringly fruity Ardbeg. Notes of muscovado sugar swirl alongside searing aromas of ripening barley and toasted sourdough bread, while sweet peat smoke orbits ripe tropical fruits. Plunge your palate into a crushing mouthfeel that implodes in on itself with intensely rich, creamy flavours.

Smokiverse will be rolling out globally over the next couple of months.

AROMA

An explosion of fruity, estery notes, reminiscent of smoked bubblegum, fused with whiffs of ripening barley and baked sourdough bread. A splash of water reveals dense, sweet, and aromatic peat smoke, accompanied by gently smoked tropical fruits.

TASTE

A rich, creamy mouthfeel drifts into sharp, sooty and spicy notes of creosote, aniseed, and clove. Tempered by the distinct sweetness of muscovado sugar, robust woody notes orbit rich charcoal.

FINISH

Finally, in an almost infinite finish, earthly peat moss fuses with sizzling bonfire embers.
