Ronald Wimberly’s “The Best Laid Schemes”, channelling the feisty and formidable flavours of Ardbeg Wee Beastie, is a fast-paced neo-western featuring giant botanicals and even bigger beasts.
Artist Bio: Ronald Wimberly
Ronald Wimberly, the creative director on this project, is an award-winning American cartoonist, designer, and founder of LAAB, an annual art tabloid examining race, gender, identity, and visual culture. He has published several critically acclaimed graphic novels, as well as shorter works for The New Yorker, DC/ Vertigo, Nike, Marvel, and Dark Horse Comics.
I thought about Planet Ardbeg as a time machine. The peat itself comes from this bog that’s compressed all of this organic matter. So to me, time-space travel seemed like a natural fit. That’s kind of what the experience of flavour is. You’re experiencing a process going through time.

This cocktail is a ray of sunshine, but be careful – it has bite! Zesty and fresh, effervescent and smoky, inspired by “The Best Laid Plans”, this cocktail is not your average float.
45 ml Wee Beastie
15 ml Lemon Juice
30 ml Pineapple juice
15 ml Turmeric & Cumin Syrup
1 egg white
60 ml Olipop Ginger lemon Soda Olipop Ginger Lemon
(Rinse Collins glass with absinthe)
3 drops Peychaud’s bitters
Shake all liquid ingredients (EXCEPT SODA) before adding ice, then shake for dilution with ice. Fine strain into Collins glass that has been rinsed with Absinthe & light ice (3-4 good cubes), then fill with soda.
