Getting to Islay takes a little bit of effort. But what pilgrimage doesn't? It's well worth it.  Especially when you turn off the Port Ellen Road and trundle down to the Distillery. Welcome. You’ve arrived at the greatest Distillery on Earth.

By Car Ferry:

Caledonian MacBrayne (tel: 0800 066 5000 / www.calmac.co.uk) run the ferry between Kennacraig on the mainland and Port Askaig on Islay. Normally 3 sailings daily, except Wednesdays and Sundays. Time: 2 hours. Prices start at £10.70 for a foot passenger and from £59 for a car (Winter Prices). By Air:   

Flybe (tel From UK only: 0871 700 2000, from outside UK: +44 (0)1392 268529) fly from Glasgow to Islay twice daily. Time: 30 mins. The little plane flies over Arran, the Mull of Kintyre and the Kildalton Distilleries before landing right beside the beach.
