It may hail from a tiny island off the west coast of Scotland, but Ardbeg 10 Years Old has been making big noises Down Under. In August this year, the Malt Whisky Society of Australia gathered together a group of leading whisky experts to find the best commercially available whisky in Australia. Every one was blind drunk (the 72 whiskies, that is), short-listed down to 12 gold medal winners, then whittled down to one ultimate trophy winner. No prizes for guessing who ran away with it… Unfortunately our duties at the Distillery prevented us from picking up the award in person, but we are delighted that Shortie (our top dog) has been able to celebrate and spread the news on our behalf.
